Listeners can follow the inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump on digital radio this Friday.
James Naughtie, who has previously presented election coverage and The Today Programme, will cover the various aspects of the inauguration live on BBC Radio 4. BBC Radio 5 live and the BBC World Service will also follow the ceremony live.
The official proceedings on Inauguration day include the swearing in ceremony, the inaugural address and the presidential parade to the White House. The BBC will also be taking reaction from around the world as power transfers from one administration to the next.
BBC Newshour on the BBC World Service at 2pm will have live reports from Washington DC. Newshour will be followed by three hours of continuous coverage until 7pm. The BBC’s reporters in Washington and around the world will reflect on the ceremony on an extended edition of Newshour at 7pm.
The coverage from Washington will be hosted by Nuala McGovern from the roof of the Canadian embassy. Chloe Tilly will be with crowds lining the route to the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue. Aleem Maqbool will commentate from near the steps of Congress while Shaimaa Khalil will be in West Virginia, reporting on how America is following the inauguration.
This week the BBC World Service is broadcasting from a different venue in America each day, looking at how people will remember President Obama and looking forward to the next four years.
On talkRADIO broadcasters Jerry Springer and Piers Morgan will cover the inauguration. They’ll be joined by former presidential advisor Mary-Jo Jacobi, comedian Jared Stern and talkshow host Charlie Wolf.
Jon Holmes will provide a unique perspective on events from 1pm to 4pm, with George Galloway and Iain Lee following the inauguration in their normal shows.
