A new digital radio station dedicated to dance music is now available across the UK.
Capital Dance launched on Thursday 1st October at 4pm and will play dance anthems and club mixes. The drivetime show will be hosted by MistaJam who joins the new station and Capital after leaving the BBC in September.
Global, the company behind the new digital station, says it will play the “biggest dance anthems and freshest club mixes anywhere”. Artists to be played on the station will include Jessie Ware, Calvin Harris, Armand Van Helden, Disclosure, MK, Duke Dumont, Jax Jones and Aluna.
“I’m really excited, honoured and privileged to start a brand new chapter in my career with the Global family, launching the UK’s first ever official 24 hour dance music radio station, Capital Dance, and taking the reins of the all new Capital Weekender show to make it the biggest dance music show in the UK,” said MistaJam.
“To be asked to launch Capital Dance and the all-new Capital Weekender really is the pinnacle of my 15 years of broadcasting to date. It’s a dream come true to join the amazingly talented and massively inspirational Coco Cole, and the exceptional Rio Fredrika.”
MistaJam will host the Capital Dance Drive Show from Tuesday to Saturday at 4pm. Rio Fredrika will present The Capital Weekender with Ministry of Sound on Saturday and Sunday between 1:30am and 5am on both Capital and Capital Dance, as well as the drivetime show on Capital Dance every Monday.
Artist and club DJ Coco Cole will host the evening show on Capital Dance on Monday to Thursday at 7pm in addition to The Capital Weekender on Friday and Saturday evenings. Coco has played at dance music festivals and clubs.
Coco Cole said: “I am beyond excited for what Capital Dance is going to bring to people’s everyday lives. 2020 needs more joy, more positive energy and more dancing, so we’re making that our mission!”
Capital Dance joins other stations Capital, Capital XTRA and Capital XTRA Reloaded on national DAB digital radio.
Last month the BBC announced that Radio 1 Dance will launch as a 24-hour stream on BBC Sounds. The new stream will be available from this Friday with Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show filling the drivetime slot.
The new station is available on DAB digital radio on the Digital One multiplex, smart speakers, in Android and iOS apps and online.
