New digital radio station Mellow Magic has launched on digital radio.
The Mellow Magic show on Magic Radio has been one of London’s most popular evening shows for several years. The new station will play similar music from artists like Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Marvin Gaye and Michael Bublé. The station also promises vintage songs from the likes of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Etta James.
Breakfast on Mellow Magic is hosted by Fran Godfrey on weekdays. Fran will be familiar with many listeners following her role on Terry Wogan’s Radio 2 breakfast show. Former Radio 4 presenter Alice Arnold hosts the programme on weekends.
Actress Patsy Kensit and Magic Radio presenter Paul Hayes will both host weekday shows, with Gary Vincent and Arlene Stuart presenting the afternoon and evening programmes. Star of Four Weddings and a Funeral, Sliding Doors and The Mummy, John Hannah, will host weekend mid-mornings followed by Lynn Parsons who will host weekend lunchtimes.
A third Magic station will be launched next Monday. Magic Chilled will play fresh, laidback songs from artists including Ellie Goulding, Birdy, Adele, Usher, Jack Johnson and Coldplay. Singer Jade Ewen will host during the day on weekdays with TV presenter Pips Taylor presenting a weekend programme.
Test transmissions for the Magic Chilled continue this week before the station launches on Monday 21st March. It may be necessary to retune digital radios which don’t yet list either of the new Magic services in the station list.
