Hit music radio station Capital is starting the year with brand new shows.
The new schedule launches on Monday 7th January and sees a new weekday line-up with new shows across Capital stations around the UK. New host Lauren Layfield joins Capital to present the 4am to 6am early breakfast show. Lauren is best known for hosting CBBC’s The Dengineers.
Presenter of Capital London’s drive time show for more than two years, Will Manning, moves to the mid-morning (10am to 1pm) show on all Capital stations. Ant Payne will take over the Capital London Drive show from 4pm to 7pm.
Will Manning has also been named as the new host of the Big Top 40 chart show on Sunday afternoons. The long-running chart show is now exclusive to Capital and Heart.
The new afternoon show (1pm to 4pm) will be hosted by Capital’s Aimee Vivian, who continues to host a Sunday morning show.
A new Capital Evening Show is also being launched with Jimmy Hill from 7pm. The station says the new evening programme “is set to be a real destination for hit music fans, including artist interviews and content, games, chart rundowns including the hot 7@7 with Apple Music”.
JJ will kick-start the Capital Weekender before Sarah Story and Rio Fredrika takeover from 10pm through to 6am. JJ will also host a new Sunday night show from 7pm. The Bassman takes over Saturday mornings (6am to 9am) and Jimmy Hill will host a new Saturday afternoon show from 4pm.
Ashley Tabor OBE, Founder & Executive President of Global, said: “This new Capital schedule is particularly exciting. It’s fantastic to see fresh new talent moving up the card at Capital, giving the station new, appointment-to-listen shows in each key daypart. I’m also excited to give the Official Big Top 40 Chart, the biggest and most listened chart show, a new feel for 2019.”
Capital is available on DAB, FM, digital TV, smart speakers and in the Capital and Global Player apps.
