Details of the BBC’s radio coverage of the upcoming World Cup in Russia have been unveiled.
BBC Radio 5 live will host match commentary from the games, as well as a World Cup Daily podcast. Exclusive content will be available on smart speakers. BBC Radio 5 live will also have analysis, debate and “the best commentary clips” on its website and social media.
Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates will lead the coverage from Moscow, while Robbie Savage will host a daily World Cup Breakfast Show from 8.30am. Robbie Savage will be joined by a ‘special guest’ on each weekday of the tournament.
Former England International Chris Waddle will join the BBC’s Football Correspondent John Murray for commentary on all England matches. Caroline Barker will provide coverage from inside the England team camp. Ian Dennis will join John Murray for commentary on the World Cup final, and he’ll also be with Pat Nevin for his matches until the final stage.
Other commentators include Dion Dublin with Conor McNamara, Chris Sutton working with Alistair Bruce-Ball and Vicki Sparks commentating with Terry Butcher.
The 606 phone-in on the station will give fans the chance to comment on England’s performance at the tournament.
On 5 live Breakfast Rachel Burden will follow England’s progress through the group stages. Rachel Burden will also be pitchside during the games for 5 live Sport.
Coverage begins on BBC Radio 5 live on Wednesday, 13 June with a preview show and continues daily until the final on 15th July.
On BBC Radio 1 Ben Mundy will be following England through the group stages for Newsbeat.
