A Christian radio station has launched an appeal to fund its second national radio station.
UCB UK is currently available across the UK and its appeal would see UCB Inspirational join it as a national station. UCB Inspirational’s focus is on easy listening music and Christian teaching.
“UCB wants to increase the opportunities for people to encounter God’s powerful Word right, across the UK,” explains a special website which has been created for the appeal.
“This is what UCB 2 Inspirational Radio can achieve. As a result, the majority of people in the UK will be able to access its inspiring and God-centred mix of thought-provoking interviews, discussions, great teaching and the finest of today’s Christian music.”
Earlier this year media regulator Ofcom announced that the Sound Digital consortium had been successful in its bid to launch a second national multiplex – the term for a group of digital radio stations. Premier Christian Radio will move from the existing national multiplex to the new transmitters. However, as the new multiplex will not match the coverage of the existing transmitters some listeners will no longer being able to receive the station.
UCB UK is currently available across the UK, with UCB Inspirational available in London and Stoke-on-Trent. UCB Gospel was previously available in some areas on DAB digital radio, but is now online only. A target of £368,000 has been set for the launch which could take place in Spring 2016.
