New weekly radio show celebrates The Beatles

Broadcaster and Beatles fan Geoff Lloyd will take a weekly look at The Beatles’ music and cultural relevance in new show “Beatlejuice”.

The new weekly programme will explore The Beatles music, history and continued cultural relevance, interspersed with some of the band’s biggest hits. The show will feature live recordings, insider interviews and spotlights on those who influenced The Fab Four.

Beatlejuice starts on Sunday 7th March at 10am on digital radio station Union JACK with the first of 12 weekly shows. The station is available on DAB, online at unionjack.co.uk or via the Union JACK radio app.

This year will see the release of a new Peter Jackson documentary on the band. ‘The Beatles: Get Back’ was due for release last year but has been delayed to August 2021 due to COVID-19. A film about Beatles manager Brian Epstein is being directed by Grammy winner Jonas Akerland.

Presenter Geoff Lloyd is known for radio shows on Absolute Radio and BBC Radio 5 live, and the Reasons to be Cheerful podcast with Ed Miliband. Geoff Lloyd has also hosted four series of Hometown Glory on Union JACK. The broadcaster also hosts the only UK-produced show for the official Beatles/Apple Corps channel in the US and presented ‘The Beatles Brunch’ on Absolute Radio 60s.

Lloyd said: “After a rotten year for everyone, I jumped at the chance to fill the airwaves with music that’s brought so much joy to the world for over half a century. The Beatles are the UK’s greatest contribution to modern culture – where better to celebrate them than Union JACK radio?”

Union JACK launched in 2016 playing British music and featuring comedy shows and clips. The station, created by the team behind JACKfm in Oxfordshire, recently expanded with digital stations playing only British rock and dance music.
