Katie Derham is joining BBC Radio 3’s drivetime programme, In Tune, from today.
She moves from afternoon programmes to replace presenter Suzy Klein, who is now hosting Essential Classics with Rob Cowan.
The station says it’s part of schedule and presenter changes taking place this autumn. Sean Rafferty will continue to host the programme after marking his 20th anniversary on the show in September. The presenters will host the programme on rotation.
In Tune features an “eclectic mix” of live and recorded music in addition to news and developments from the arts world. It airs on BBC Radio 3 every weekday from 5pm to 7.30pm.
“I’ve always loved In Tune for its vibrant mix of live music and chat, and it’s going to be a huge pleasure to join Sean and the team,” said Katie Derham.
“I’m looking forward to great conversation with the most interesting and exciting musicians around.”
Katie Derham joined the BBC from ITN in 2010 where she hosted ITV News programmes. Since 2010 she has hosted BBC Proms on BBC Two and presents the weekly Proms Extra during the Proms season. Derham trained in piano and violin at a young age.
Edward Blakeman, Head of Music Programmes Radio 3 says: “Katie is the perfect choice for In Tune. It is a live interview and music programme and Katie will bring a wealth of journalistic and live classical music presenting experience to the programme.
